Michele Boll’s Studio
Michele’s studio is number 402 at Western Avenue Studios, 122 and 160 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851. Western Avenue Studios has an open studio event the first Saturday of every month. With 300 artists in the building there is something for everyone here: glass blowing, sculpture, photography, textiles and painting. There is even a microbrewery. Once a factory for Joann’s Fabrics, Western Avenue Studios is one of largest populations of artists in the country. You can view my Michele Boll’s work at open studio events the first Saturday of every month. You can also contact Michele to make an appointment.
"My process begins with the moment light reveals something I find beautiful about ordinary places and things. In that moment a building, alley or an old house become my next idea. I’ll take a few photographs, make some notes or sketch the scene. The quality of the light and my emotional response in that moment are as important as the composition.
My goal is to capture the feeling of a place and moment in time and communicate that through my work. My final composition is never a rendering of an exact scene but rather a reflection of my connection to it. I’ll often remove or add objects to a composition in order to balance and complete the story I want to tell.
I have worked with many types of media. The majority of my current work is in acrylic on canvas."”
