My Studio

Studio 407, Western Avenue Studios, 122 Western Avenue, Lowell, MA 01851. Our building has an open studio event on the first Saturday of every month. With 300 artists in the building, there is something for everyone here. The building used to be a factory for Joann’s Fabrics. It’s now one of the most creative art spaces in the country. You can view my work at our open studio events, and by appointment. Wednesday through Sunday. My gallery hours vary but please feel free to contact me to make an appointment if you want to stop by.

About my Process

It begins with the moment light reveals something I find beautiful about ordinary places and things. In that moment a building, alley or an old house become my next idea. I’ll take a few photographs, make some notes or sketch the scene. The quality of the light and my emotional response in that moment are as important as the composition.

My goal is to capture the feeling of a place and moment in time and communicate that through my work. My final composition is never a rendering of an exact scene but rather a reflection of my connection to it. I’ll often remove or add objects to a composition in order to balance and complete the story I want to tell.

I have worked with many types of media. The majority of my current work is in acrylic on canvas.
